August 30- A few more things

Parents,

Much has happened this week, and I neglected to give you a few additional noteworthy items yesterday.

·         Book orders are coming home in the Badger folders this weekend.  The order is due by September 12.  I submit book orders in the online format only.  Directions are attached to the order forms.  Ordering is extremely easy this way, and gives me the opportunity to select more new book titles for our classroom bookshelf if I do it this way.  Please consider ordering to help your child not only at home, but here at school as well!

·         Spanish squares (Spanish homework pieces) were also sent in Badger folders today.  They are yellow.  Please look for them and pull them out.  Please address all questions about this homework component to Sra. Adeshina.  Sorry- for this one I can’t help you.

·         This was the first Friday where we had multiple graded papers coming home.  They should be in the “Take Home” side of the badger folder, and do not need to be returned to me.  Go through these pieces with your child to gain a stronger understanding of what we are studying at school so you can help them prepare for tests, and to gain some awareness of their performance on particular topic areas.

·         PLEASE HELP! The PTO has requested that we create a Biome to go along with our Walk-A-Bout theme of “Learning is and Adventure at Pine Creek Elementary”. The second grade is doing a Biome on the Arctic Tundra.  We are hoping to make an igloo with information on each of the blocks.  The children will be finding their facts during their media time. We are asking you to please donate one or more Styrofoam blocks to our project for PTO.  We are requesting the blocks to be 5” blocks.  An example can be found at Hobby Lobby http://shop.hobbylobby.com/products/5-styrofoam-block-488262/ .  Please have your child’s block to us by Thursday September 5thYour help is greatly appreciated!

Have a wonderful weekend.  There will be a substitute on Tuesday, so I’ll look forward to seeing the kids back in action on Wednesday.  Thank you!

Cheers!
