Dear Parents,
It was nice to see so many of you at the walk-a-thon event
last Thursday. Thank you for supporting
our school with your attendance and excitement.
I enjoyed speaking with many of you.
This week, we will continue to focus on homework completion,
both quality and quantity. It has been a
difficult topic for this class. Please
be aware- sticks will be pulled for late or missing homework items. Three or more late/missing assignments will
result in detentions. Continue to check
in with your child daily concerning homework items. Thank you for your support in this area.
It’s Language Arts
review week. We will have our first
theme test next week. I spread the test
out over 3-4 days so that it is not so overwhelming for the kids. Spend some time this week reviewing all 5
(lessons 1-5) yellow study guides for the most preparation next week.
We will have a Math
test tomorrow, and will then move on to building addition and subtraction
number sentences using clue words from story problems in our next chapter. There is a topic test that can be taken for
practice online. Basic fact practice is
also helpful.
**This year our school will utilize
the IXL math website. Accounts for the
students are being set up today, and more information, including the kids’
usernames and passwords will be sent in Badger folders next week. This website is a fabulous way to practice
skills that connect directly with our standards and the topics being covered in
class. Look for this information page
and keep it handy. It is a fun,
interactive way for the kids to make connections to this content area.
In Science we are
studying the design process and the steps for experimentation.
Our focus in Social
Studies remains on the overview of the general topic areas for the
year. After this general overview, we’ll
move on to test taking skills in preparation for the Terra Nova test in
October. More information concerning
this test will come in a few weeks.
-This week on Wednesday the 18th, our school will
practice an evacuation drill.
Information will be sent from the office.
-Sept. 25 is a 1:00 dismissal. Please plan transportation accordingly.
Have a wonderful week.
Cheers!
