Dear Parents,

Wow, did it get chilly nice and fast!  I hope you’re warm and well this fine crisp day.

·         We are still heading outdoors for recess.  Please send warm winter coats, mittens, hats, scarves, etc. for your kids to bundle up to head outside.  With the wind up here on PC hill, it always feels a bit colder than the temperature reads.  Plan and prepare accordingly!

·         Movie night is Friday.  You have a couple papers on this night in Badger folders tonight. 

·         Mrs. Thoendel asked the teachers to pass along a reminder that morning clubs (walking and reading club) begin at 7:50.  Students should arrive to school between 7:45-7:50 to attend the clubs.  Many students are attempting to arrive at 8:00 or after and are being denied admittance.  Please continue to use reading club to help with AR testing and reading goals, but come prepared to arrive before 7:50, and have your child bring a book to review before the testing session begins.  Thanks.

·         We’re continuing to focus on decreasing missing homework items (which include the FF and IXL requirements for the week.)  Continue to check the planner daily.  I know it gets to be a tedious hassle, but I promise it does build a solid foundation for responsibility in the future which will be extremely valuable and worth the time you put in with me now.

·         Remember to have the kids log in to IXL each time they practice.  Go onto the site through the class blog so you are sure to reach the log-in page.  For extra insurance that the 30 minute requirement has been reached, check out the “reports” tab at the top.  Set the date (Monday- Sunday… for example this week will be Nov. 11-Nov. 17) and update the report to see the time logged for your student.

·         Book orders are due November14. 

·         LA theme testing is this week (lessons 6-10).

·         Reader’s theater will be Friday.  The kids can bring a snack/drink item for the café.  Please remember students with two or more missing signature days do not participate in café.  Keep reading and building fluency and expression!

·         Practice counting coins and finding the least amounts of coins to build various money amounts for preparedness in math this week.

·         We’re studying plant basic needs and the parts of a plant in Science.

·         The kids are enjoying looking at the centennial books to see how Bennington has changed and grown.  This week we’ll take a look at how we’re a small part of a big picture, as we learn about cities, states, countries, and continents.

·         The kids are drafting fables this week, learning how to build bold beginnings to grab the reader’s attention and set their story off solidly, with the reader begging to read more.
