Parents,
Just a few notes to get you squared away looking ahead to
next week:
·
First off, a huge congratulations goes out to
team member Peyton! He earned runner-up
status in this year’s primary level (grade 1-3) spelling bee yesterday. Awesome job, Peyton!
·
Secondly, a huge thank you to the class as a
whole! We’ve had an amazing week. I’ve been joking with the kids that they’ve
been eating “awesome” for breakfast, but I’m only partially kidding. This week has been stellar. The kids have been attentive, participating
well, really embracing the team mentality, and if I didn’t know better, I’d
think it was a whole different bunch of kids than first semester. I LOVE this change, and am excited for it to
continue. Thanks for your support from
home.
·
On account of said awesomeness (see above) the
kids have earned enough points this week to receive a DWP party next week. We pick prizes at the end of the day, so
stayed tuned for what party is to come.
I will alert you early next week if supplies (such as games/snacks) are
needed. What a great way to end such a great week! J
·
Terra Nova test results from fall testing are
in, and will be sent home in Badger folders today.
·
Family trees are due Monday.
·
AR goals for third quarter were set during
Library today. They are in badger
folders tonight. Please look them over,
sign the parent line, have the kids sign their line, and return them to me on
Monday. The kids are still quite
convinced if we have 100% of our class meet all three goals all four quarters
Mrs. Klaus’ head might just explode. We’re
going to try for it! J Two quarters down, two to go. Thanks for your help from home. Keep reading and bringing the kids to reading
club. It makes a huge difference.
·
We will have Reader’s Theater scripts in the
fluency folders next week. When we
perform scripts on Friday, January 17 for “café” the kids will be allowed to
bring a small snack/drink from home.
This is optional. If a soda is
brought, it should be caffeine free, please.
·
IXL requirements next week are student choice. We talked about it today at school, so the
kids should know what to do.
·
There have been lots of informational notes
coming from various groups through the office today. Look through mailbox papers carefully this
week.
R
LA theme test is in two weeks. It will cover lessons 12-15.
R
In class reader’s theater on Friday, January

regrouping (carrying) skills.
